Snowy East Rock

My camera and I headed into the woods of East Rock today; in the middle of our city, in these great big woods, there was not a sound to be heard. So peaceful and quiet.

Ringing in 2011

This year we "only" made it until 2 am. Usually make it 2 hours longer. We had a great time, with H & P, together with friends to welcome the new year. The only downer was that we all got so carried away with the non-stop flow of champagne, delicious food and great conversation, we failed to catch the ball drop. Well we caught the last 2 seconds before it hit, but at that point the children (for whom, and for whom only, this momentous event was terribly important and who were bombing down the stairs at our urgent cries to hurry up and catch the ball before .... ) too late. But we've enjoyed many a replay. Not quite the same, but better than nothing.

First off, though, while we had a greener than green Xmas, we began 2011 with LOTS of snow.

Merry Christmas, Happy 2011

We took a fun pre-xmas trip up to ski at Bromley in VT...thanks to Marc's planning skills and motivated spirit to get H and P on the slopes at an early age. Beautiful lodging in Manchester Village. (hate to admit it, but while the skiing was great, the Yves Delorme outlet was quite a draw, too.) H and P are becoming very confident skiers and are, most of all, having a lot of fun with the sport. We are planning on heading up to Stowe later in the month.

There was something particularly nice about Xmas this year. I can't really pinpoint what it was, it was just uniquely festive and memorable for us. Here's a sampling of our Xmas eve and day.

LOVE and best wishes for a HEALTHY NEW YEAR!
