With thanks

for three wonderful years, Bethesda! Friday night marked our last Bethesda potluck supper. An evening filled with both sadness and gratitude. It has been an exceptional preschool for first, Hugo, and then, Portia. We'll miss it but through our good friends will continue to have it in our lives for many years to come.

Big man on campus

While we're talking thanks, it's never too early to instill the tradition of thank-you note writing. Thanks to my mom for ingraining it in me. Here are few of the many Hugo hand wrote for his birthday gifts.

Party weekend

Needless to say, Hugo and Portia crashed with glee tonight.

1st Piano Recital!

What a performance! Sweet to see was how eager Hugo was to get up and play for the crowd. He had two songs on deck tonight, Church Bells and Fishing. Both he had memorized, and both he played to perfection. Most of all, he had FUN performing! Poor Boppy braved 1.5 hours of traffic but happily made it in time to hear Hugo's stage debut. We were all there to cheer Hugo on at his first recital. His first song apparently moved a baby in the audience to tears, hence the brief interruption between songs. Hugo handled this little gap gracefully, just smiling through until the storm passed.

We feel really lucky to have such an exceptional piano teacher. Kind, talented, firm and encouraging.

Super job, Chachi!

Field Day!

What a fun day yesterday! The entire school participated in Field Day. Kindergarten activities included relay races, scoop ball races and a fun run. Maroon (Hugo's color) vs Gray.

Inch by Inch, Row by Row

Gonna make this garden grow, all it takes is a rake and a hoe and a piece of fertile ground....
Now, John Denver does this tune decent justice, but the three Kindergarten classes took it to a whole new level.

Here Comes the Bride

Where to begin? With seriously overdue Germany pix? With Easter shots? With Peanut's skating debut? Our trip to cousins in New Jersey? Portia's biking prowess? Foote Field Day? Gulp. One step at a time.

How about with the wedding? Always a good launching point. Especially when it's between your two children. Came upstairs to find them all set for their nuptials. Self-selected wedding attire, rings chosen. There was a lot of dancing, bowing and ended with Hugo's trying to kiss the bride only to be met with an "Ick" from his new bride. Maybe it was the pirate pants with striped socks that was the turn-off? Understandably he wanted to smooch the blushing bride, all decked out in Big Y heels and TJMaxx Halloween wedding dress.
