A new decade

I could never have imagined that at 40, I would have everything and more. We also celebrated Peanut's 7th in glorious Mauritius paradise And tomorrow marks Marc's and my 11th anniversary. We have everything to be grateful for.

Where, oh where, to start.

So I'll start in July. Camp. What an unbelievable experience for Hugo! He loved every minute, every second, every experience, every canoe trip, every hike with Nature Ned, every exchange with Tim the German, every popsicle, his 880 yard swim out to the island, his friendships, his counselors, woodworking, camp songs, mealtimes, cabin chats, campfires, overnight across the lake...the list could go on interminably. The stories keep on coming. The experience was that profoundly amazing.

Aaahh, three months later...

Summer has come and gone. I've been so delinquent. Have yet to upload 1000 pictures from Germany trip. For the time being, a few pictures from the first day back to school. First and third grade.

Quark- Isn't that just German cottage cheese?

"I'm just looking up the atomic structure of a quark," says Hugo as I find him in the dining room leaning eagerly over the iPad. He then continues, filling me in on details that will forever elude me, lying on his back, "Mama, a quark makes up a proton or a neutron which make up the nucleus which is surrounded by an electron cloud which makes up the atom. Let's say we have one proton, like the hydrogen atom; that means in the electron cloud that there is only one electron. Inside a proton, there are three quarks- 2 upquarks and 1 downquark."

Recital Day!!

Hooray for my babies! You both played the piano so beautifully today at your recital!!

Adding to his many pursuits, he has now taken to inventions. When I asked him tonight what he thinks about before he goes to sleep, he said, "Well, lately, inventions." I told him I'd get him a sketchbook for his inventions tomorrow and asked whether he'd like lined, plain or grid paper. His reply: "What looks most genius-like?" And I have to part with him this summer for two weeks??? Daggers in my side.
